Minecraft’s Strongest Underwater Support is Actually Dolphins? Neither Buffs nor Treasure Hunting Compare to This Skill

When it comes to dolphins, calling them the little sprites of the sea is no exaggeration at all. They are gentle, friendly, lively, and playful—whether in real life or in Minecraft, they are my favorite creatures. So, what are the characteristics of these adorable dolphins? Let me take you through them~

Dolphins are very playful when swimming. They don’t stay politely underwater; they constantly leap between different bodies of water.

In the Java Edition, if adventurers sprint-swim near dolphins, dolphins will actively follow the player, whistling continuously. They also grant a 5-second buff effect called “Dolphin’s Grace,” which significantly increases your swimming speed. However, if you are invisible and they can’t see you, the dolphin won’t give you this effect.

Like other creatures, dolphins can also be fed. You can feed them raw salmon or raw cod to make them trust you more. However, they cannot be tamed. If adventurers want to travel with a dolphin, you can only leash it with a lead.

Most importantly, after you feed it, the dolphin will repay you. It will lead you to the nearest shipwreck, buried treasure, or rare ocean ruins. Don’t worry about encountering enemies along the way. Dolphins are very clever and will actively guide you to avoid threatening foes.

Although dolphins cannot be ridden, in the hearts of many adventurers, the dream of riding a dolphin to explore the vast seas remains strong. So today, I’ll fulfill that wish for you~ Let me teach you how to become a Dolphin Rider!

First, type /give @s command_block in the chat to get our protagonist—the command block. Just one command block is enough. Place it as shown in the image below.

Then, in the command block, enter the following command:
  execute @e[name=Steve] ~ ~ ~ tp

  @e[type=minecart] ~ ~.5 ~
Set the block type to Repeat, condition to Unconditional, and Redstone to Always Active.

Next, place an anvil next to the command block to rename a name tag.

Here, I changed it to “Steve.” Adventurers can freely choose any name they like.

Then, give your dolphin companion its new name you prepared for it. I suggest leashing it first, otherwise, the dolphin might swim around erratically.

Next, lay down a section of rail nearby. Pick up a minecart and right-click the dolphin with it. You’ll find the minecart has disappeared! What happened? Actually, the minecart has been teleported onto the dolphin via the command.

Now for the main event—the super cool “Dolphin Rider” is about to appear! The feeling of swimming freely through the vast ocean is simply amazing!

Letting a dolphin guide you through ocean exploration adds a whole new flavor, doesn’t it?
