Mojang Studios has officially announced today that the major update for Minecraft will be titled “The Copper Age.” This marks the official inclusion and activation of copper-related content that previously existed only in mods in the early days.

This update was previously teased in the third official video released in July, featuring copper equipment and tools, as well as the copper golem, which helps players automatically sort chests. Additionally, a new item called “Shelf” has been added, which can store and display up to three items. Its ability to fit three decorative items in one block space makes it perfect for use as a trophy or treasure display shelf. Shelves can also interact with redstone components, allowing players to arrange decorative items on them and then instantly switch them to something like an armory display using switches or other mechanisms.

“The Copper Age” is scheduled to officially launch in the latter half of 2025. It is currently available for experience in the Java Snapshot and Bedrock beta versions and Preview.
